St. Mary's High School believes that there is more to education than just what is taught in the classroom. Therefore, St. Mary's offers a wide variety of extra and co-curricular activities that cater to the varied interests of the students. The clubs and organizations are there to enhance the students total experience at St. Mary's, spiritually, intellectually, and socially. The administration is always willing to consider additional clubs as student interest allows. Below is a list of the current clubs and organizations at St. Mary's High School.

For more information on these clubs, click on their names:

Bell Choir - Ensemble of bell-ringers who perform twice a year at school concerts, and occasionally at mass.  Musical knowledge and experience are NOT necessary, but help.

Book Club - Book Club meets once a month in order to discuss an age appropriate book that may not be taught within the classroom. Many different types of books are read including, but not limited to murder mysteries, science fiction and non-fiction. Students are welcomed to make suggestions each month by contacting the club moderator in person or via email. Students enjoy refreshments, friends and casual book discussion questions either led by the moderator and/or the students. Often at times, the book club moderator will engage the members in an art project or activity that was influenced by the book the club is reading. We have also met for a second time in one month to view the movie that was based on the book if one is available. This is a great way to meet new friends and share a common interest, which is the love of reading.

Choir - Men/Women/Combined - smaller, auditioned men's and women's singing groups.  They perform at school concerts and functions, and sometimes at mass.  Occasionally, the two groups may combine to create a larger co-ed ensemble.

Dance Club - Dance Club meets twice weekly for 2 hours each after school. Dance club- is divided into three sections- tap, ballet, jazz/hip hop. They  work on routines for the SMHS  productions such as the Christmas Show, Evening of Fine arts- and the Dancers Showcase at Martin's Fantasy Island which takes place on Memorial Day weekend.

Donate Life - Donate Life Club through Upstate New York Transplant Services provides education to others about organ and tissue donation.  Our students are educated about this very important topic so that they can educate others within the school and community about how important this is.  Each year the students involved in Donate Life run a blood drive.

Music Ministry - Rock band-style combo (drums, guitar, bass, keyboard) that accompanies the vocal Music Ministry for school masses.  All are welcome.

RPM - a selected group of seniors who plan and implement retreats for all of the classes. We also give retreats for schools outside St. Mary's at the request of the other schools.  I also moderate SOuL which is Students of Life.  Our goal is to educate ourselves and others about the issues that undermine life in our society.  Examples of these are abortion, capital punishment, war, etc...Any student can join this group.  We meet the last Thursday of the month and do many things throughout the year to make students aware of these issues.

Ski Club - Our Ski Club here at St. Mary's goes every Thursday to Kissing Bridge from 3pm until 9pm for eight (8) consecutive weeks always beginning the 1st week in Jan. after we return from the recess.  The bus leaves the school @ 3pm and arrives back by 8:45pm.  Our time slot at Kissing Bridge is 4-8pm.  Included in the cost is a 1 hour lesson each week.  The lesson takes place @ 5 p.m. On our final day of Skiing, we have a pizza party at Kissing Bridge during suppertime.

SADD - To provide students with the best prevention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving and other destructive decisions.  Each month there is a different focus for the students to work on.   For more information please visit www.sadd.org.
